Dr Joanna Noakes grew up in regional NSW and is a graduate from the University of Newcastle. She is an Aboriginal doctor and completed her internship and residency on Kamilaroi country in Tamworth NSW and then spent time in the Northern Territory working in remote East Arnhem Land. She moved to Queensland in 2021 to commence Paediatric training and completed 3 years at the Queensland Children’s Hospital and the Prince Charles Hospital before embarking on her greatest adventure yet, becoming a mother.
After transitioning into general practice for a better work-life balance she has enjoyed all aspects so far, but her special interests include:
Paediatrics
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health
Women’s health
Antenatal / Pregnancy Care
Preventative Health / Cancer Screening Programs / Health Checks
Mental health
Joanna is particularly passionate about holistic medicine and empowering her patients to be actively involved in their own health journey. She looks forward to working with the Capalaba Medical Centre team.
