Dr Alison Bignell

Dr Alison Bignell graduated from the University of Qld in 1980 and did her residency at the Mater Hospital in Brisbane. She then moved into General Practice at Capalaba Medical Centre in 1982. Dr Alison Bignell is a past Fellow of the Australiasian Society of Breast Physicians. Over the years she has developed special interests in breast disease and natural reproductive health. She currently combines general practice with her work at BreastScreen which involves the assessment and counselling of women recalled for review following their screening mammograms.

Dr Bignell holds a certificate qualification as a Natural Family Planning Medical Consultant obtained in 2010 when she travelled to Omaha to train in the new womens health science of NaProTechnology. She also regularly participates in the masterclasses produced by the Reproductive Health Research Institute (FEMM). Using the restorative reproductive approach to investigate and manage issues such as infertility, recurrent miscarriage, PCOS, premenstrual syndrome, postnatal depression, PMS - as a result many couples are empowered to achieve a healthy pregnancy outcome without the need for IVF, and women feel healthier.
 Dr Bignell is a member of a research team at the Mater Mothers Fertility and Research Clinic which is studying the effect of bio-identical progesterone to improve outcomes for couples experiencing infertility and recurrent miscarriage. She is a current member of IIRRM. (International Institute of Restorative Reproductive Medicine) and the AIRRM.
